Have A Corny Time At Coronado Historic Site’s Ranger Read & Learn Sept. 20

NMDCA News:

In a partnership with the Martha Liebert Public Library in Bernalillo, Coronado Historic Site offers a “Ranger Read and Learn” story time that is free and geared toward children ages 3–7 years old.

From 10–11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, we are going to talk about how the Pueblo people who lived at Kuaua Pueblo grew and used corn. A ranger will read the children’s book, “Corn/Maiz” by Doreen Gonzales, and then show children how to grind corn with a metate by hand and make simple piki bread. Children will also have the opportunity to make a beaded corn cob to take home.

This partnership offers an opportunity for Coronado Historic Site to share history and natural history related to the site with surrounding community members.
