AFT New Mexico News:
Thinking about the end of your career of serving students and communities? This process can be difficult to navigate, and AFT New Mexico wants to help you plan and prepare for your retirement when you are ready.
To provide clear guidance and useful tips, AFT New Mexico and the AFT New Mexico Retirees are partnering with the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board and the NM Retiree Health Care Authority to host two different workshops where you can learn and ensure that you have taken the necessary steps to retire on your own timetable.
Even if you don’t have a firm date in mind about when retirement is right for you, AFT New Mexico invites you to take part in either of these workshops:
- Friday, March 22 from 4:30-6 p.m.
- Friday, April 26 from 4:30-6 p.m.
Both workshops are being presented in a hybrid format to allow for greater participation.

Finally, as an added benefit of participation, information will be available from AFT New Mexico’s Retiree Local (#8029R) to present the benefits and opportunities of maintaining an active membership in union – even after retirement.
