His Eminence, Archbishop DANIEL of the UOC of USA will visit Saint Job of Pochaiv Orthodox Church April 13-14 in Los Alamos.
This will be Archbishop DANIEL’s third visit to this fair city. He will preside at the Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m., both days and share in the celebration of the Sunday of Mary of Egypt, the fifth Sunday of the Great Fast.
Saturday, Archbishop DANIEL will consecrate the Holy Altar of the church. He will place relics of the martyrs in it and anoint it with Holy Oil while prayers are sung. This is a singular event in the life of a local church and will likely never be repeated. The consecration of the altar marks the permanence of the parish in this community.
Sunday Archbishop DANIEL will ordain Lorenzo Lucero a deacon in the local church.
The bishop is the shepherd of the local church, and the priest and deacons only serve with his blessing.
“We love our bishop and are blessed whenever he is able to be with us,” Father Theophan Mackey said. “Archbishop DANIEL is the hierarch of the Western Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, and he endeavors to visit each of his parishes at least once a year. Archbishop DANIEL will be available to speak with the faithful and those who are curious about the Orthodox Faith. We will share a light meal after both services, and all are welcome to come join us. Come visit and celebrate God’s love with us!”
