Arrive Alive Tour Friday Brings Drunk & Distracted Driving Simulator To Los Alamos High School

LAPS News:

The Arrive Alive Tour®, the nation’s leading drunk and distracted driving awareness program, will visit Los Alamos High School, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.

The Arrive Alive Tour utilizes a cutting-edge simulator that allows participants to experience the dangers of impaired and distracted driving—without any real-life consequences. As the first and only marijuana driving simulator in the country, this program provides a unique, hands-on approach to educating young drivers about the risks of driving under the influence and while distracted.

In New Mexico, impaired and distracted driving continues to be a serious public safety issue:

  • Young drivers (ages 16-20) are 17 times more likely to die in a crash with a BAC of .08%.
  • Driver distraction is responsible for 58% of teen crashes.
  • Statewide programs aim to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities through education and prevention.

By participating in this interactive, high-impact experience, students gain crucial awareness about the dangers of risky driving behaviors and the importance of making safe choices behind the wheel.

This event is sponsored by the Los Alamos County DWI Program, reinforcing the community’s commitment to reducing impaired and distracted driving incidents. Local media are encouraged to cover this vital initiative and help amplify the message of safe, responsible driving.

Together, we can save lives—one student, one driver, and one safe choice at a time.
