Highlands University To Host 10th Annual Painters Exhibition

The 10th Annual Painters Exhibition will open Sept. 10, 2023, at Kennedy Hall on the New Mexico Hghlands University (NMHU) campus, and will run through Oct. 31. This year’s invitational show will feature 41 artists and 123 paintings. An opening reception will be held 4-7 pm., Sept. 10.  

Artist Joel Greene, who has shown work in previous Painters Exhibitions at NMHU, is the 2023 exhibition’s featured artist.

Going Up!: We took Kebler Pass Road (Road 12) off of Highway 133 just outside of Paonia State Park which is the western end of the road. The first few miles of Road 12 leads travelers through a valley along the Anthracite Creek before ascending fairly quickly to higher elevations within the Elk Mountains. SANTA FE — New Mexico will be well represented at this year’s National Book Festival. Tumble by Celia C. Pérez, a youth book, and Shutter by Ramona Emerson, an adult book, have been selected by New Mexico Center for the Book as the state’s representatives for the Great Reads from Great Places (GRGP) program.
