Los Alamos Museum of Art (LAMOA) has operated for five years. It has kept busy during that time; last year the 501 (c)(3) organization created a series of interviews with local artists and culture representatives called Inside Arts, which was broadcasted on PAC8, and Saturday its art exhibit, which featured selections from its collections, concluded after a six-week run at the Fuller Lodge Art Center.

Rotarian Jim O’Donnell Surprises Speaker Ann McLaughlin
At a recent Rotary Club of Los Alamos meeting, Rotarian Jim O’Donnell surprises guest speaker Ann McLaughlin, artistic director of the Los Alamos Concert Association, with a document he discovered while cleaning out the attic of an old building in downtown Los Alamos. The document is a receipt from a local printing business for an order placed in 1956 by the concert association. Everybody on my Christmas list last year got a mug. They are my favorite thing to make, and I can make a bunch of them in a day, especially if the weather is dry. They dry quickly and I can get the handles attached the same afternoon. In a couple more dry days, I can bisque fire them, then glaze and glaze fire them. In the course of a week it goes from raw clay to a coffee mug that might be used daily.
At least I hope they get used daily.

A free movie will be offered Friday night by the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 2390 North Road in Los Alamos (by Mountain Elementary School).
The movie is “The Princess Bride” (rated PG). All are welcome!
This is a fairy tale, adventure/comedy film originally released in 1987, starring Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, and Mandy Patinkin. Since then, it has become an iconic classic.

What is thought to be a Common Murre stands alone on a small iceberg spotted by Los Alamos Daily Post photographer and videographer Nate Limback during his recent 8-day trip traveling the Ring Road in Iceland. Limback shares his photos of the wildlife, landscapes, waterfalls and icebergs he encountered along the 825 mile road. The Ring Road is the nickname of Route 1, Iceland’s main motorway.
