Daily Postcard: Buck Moon Illuminates Sky

The full moon illuminates the sky Sunday morning over White Rock. The full moon in July is called the Buck Moon, named after the new antlers that emerge from a buck’s forehead around this time of the year. It also is called Thunder Moon, Hay Moon and Wort Moon. On July 4 or 5, depending on your time zone, the Buck Moon turned a shade darker for many people in North and South America and Africa, as it is eclipsed by the Earth’s penumbral shadow during a penumbral lunar eclipse. Posts From The Road: Happy Independence Day America!

Big Timber, Mont.: We have traveled to Big Timber for the past four years to attend a RV Campout with several other RVers who own Pleasure-Way RVs. Our gathering is the weekend of the Sweet Grass County Festival, which is similar to the Los Alamos Fair and Rodeo weekend. One of our traditions is to attend the parade each year. The flags shown were a part of the parade including the US flag, the POW-MIA flag, the US flag honoring Search and Rescue and EMS (Emergency Medical Service) personnel (orange stripe), and the US flag honoring and supporting the police (blue stripe).
