The 2015 Los Alamos Quilt Show is Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26 at the Crossroads Bible Church, 97 East Road.

Hours

  • Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Handmade quilts of all types including wall hangings, table runners, art quilts and bed quilts of all sizes and for all occaissions will be available. There is absolutely something for everyone at this event.

Museum of International Folk Art Director Marsha Bol Announces Retirement

SANTA FE – After 20 years with the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), serving the last seven years as the director of the Museum of International Folk Art, Dr. Marsha Bol announced her retirement effective Nov. 1.

The Los Alamos Rotary STARS (Service to All Rotary Satellite) will participate in the upcoming Opera on the Rocks at Bandelier for the third year in a row.

Ceramics Instructor Barbara Yarnell Continues To Inspire With Clay In Popular Classes At UNM-LA

After throwing her first pot in a Los Alamos Middle School class at age 14, Barbara Yarnell was smitten with clay.

Later in life, she found she also loved sharing her knowledge of the art of ceramics with others. She just taught the first day of Introduction to Ceramics to 20 students at UNM-LA during the first week of fall semester.

“I love the first day of school in the fall and that excitement of learning,” Yarnell said in a recent interview in her studio classroom at UNM-LA. Read More

John Mamula of Los Alamos was chosen through a statewide audition to enter into his sophomore year of high school at the New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) in Santa Fe.

He will be studying in NMSA’s instrumental music department, with a focus on cello. Mamula has been focusing on his cello studies for more than four years and has received statewide recognition for his accomplishments.
