LACA Presents Latin America’s Premier String Quartet March 15

The Los Alamos Concert Association will present Latin America’s premier string quartet in a concert scheduled at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15 in the Smith Auditorium. 

Cuarteto Latinoamericano was to have performed with bandoneón virtuoso Daniel Binelli. However, Binelli has cancelled upcoming engagements including this Los Alamos appearance for medical reasons. The quartet will perform as scheduled with a revised program.

A screening of artist Vijali Hamilton’s feature film, “The Wheel of the World: One Woman’s Creative Journey for Global Peace,” will be presented at 2 p.m., March 15 at the Jemez Springs Village Conference Room, 30 Jemez Springs Plaza.

The Jemez Springs Public Library (JSPL) is hosting the event, which will feature an introduction by Hamilton.

Canceled: Tonight’s Opening Reception At Art Center

ART CENTER News:

Due to the winter storm, Fuller Lodge Art Center has canceled tonight’s reception for Valentina Devine’s “Knit One, Crochet Two”.

The reception is rescheduled for 5-7 p.m., March 20, which is the day before the exhibit closes. The community is invited to visit the show before that date and return for the reception to meet Valentina and mingle with friends. 

Anyone owning one of Valentina’s pieces is encouraged to wear it to help celebrate her show.

We had 25 contenders and only one winner for our second annual Reel Deal Academy Award Contest. If Boyhood would have won instead of Birdman, I would have had to award about 20 six-month passes.

Birdman, the quirky but original film was a bit of surprise but maybe the Academy is looking for original, non-sequel films. This is a good thing as the days of four, five or even six sequals are getting real old.
