Group Gathers For Friday Night Meetup At Blue Window

 Members of the local Meetup group gathered Friday night at the Blue Window Bistro in downtown Los Alamos to have a drink or dinner, visit with their friends and make some new ones. In the first Open Studio for Abiquiu Artists, three established artists collaborate with new work, in sculpture, jewelry and painting.

Today I went to grammy.com and got a real education. 

The Grammy organization gives awards to recording artists in 82 categories. I scrolled down the increasingly obscure list of winners, past four categories for rap, past Best Children’s Album, Best Regional Roots Music Album, Best New Age Album, on and on through 70 different categories. 

 At the deep, dark bottom of the list were the 10 categories for classical music.

The Anderson and Roe Piano Duo, noted for their brilliantly choreographed performances, will open the Los Alamos Concert Association’s new season at 4 p.m. Sunday,  Sept. 28 in the Smith Auditorium.

Elizabeth Joy Roe and Greg Anderson met at Juilliard and formed their dynamic partnership in 2002. They have since toured extensively, with notable recitals in Beijing, Seoul, Singapore, Italy, Vancouver, as well as in nearly every New York City venue imaginable including Carnegie Hall.

Sec Sandoval Chalk Walk Draws Unique Pieces

Lynn Okimura of We Talk Chalk, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in chalk art that appears to be three-dimensional, sets up a piece at Ashley Pond during the Los Alamos Arts Council’s Sec Sandoval Chalk Walk Saturday morning at Ashley Pond. There was a great turnout for the Los Alamos Historical Society’s viewing of the seventh episode of WGN’s new series, Manhattan, a fictionalized look at life in Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project.
