About ACRR:
The Atomic City Road Runners Club is a family-oriented running and walking club that meets every Tuesday April through October for a pace race in which members predict their own time. Anyone can choose to run or walk for one mile or three miles, and the slowest walker can be a winner if his or her finish time is closest to that predicted.
The first and last meetings are held at the Canyon Rim Trail so that runners/walkers can determine present fitness at the start of the season and check again at the end of the season to measure improvement.
During the season, pace races are held on various streets and trails throughout Los Alamos County. Registration immediately precedes each run with a 50¢ fee for members and students (high school age and below) and $1.50 for non-members. Members who participate in at least five runs get a special club T-shirt at the end of the season (members who choose to sponsor a race receive double credit for that run).
The season culminates in November with the Annual CROP Walk/Turkey Trot sponsored in conjunction with CROP and LA Cares, two charity organizations. Turkeys and pumpkin pies are awarded by random drawing.
Dues are $20 for an individual and $30 for a family membership.
