As you know, our mission at The Tub is to create a space that feels like home, to extend our love and support to the community, and open our doors so each and every person has an opportunity to connect with one another.
Great beer is just the vessel from which we do this.
In Los Alamos, most everyone comes from somewhere else, and yet everyone is a local. We hold a special place for those who were not born here. So, as we sit in the comfort of our homes and safety of our community watching the destruction happening across the world in Ukraine, we can no longer feel like we are doing enough.
We have all grown weary watching the news in Ukraine, where the home of the Ukrainian people is no longer a place of security and respite. The results of this war are unimaginable in our world. We are not in a place to begin to understand this way of life, but we are in a position to help those who are living this tragedy every day.
Aug. 12 & 13, we would like to provide an avenue for our people to extend the compassion and support they hold in their hearts to the people of Ukraine. Aug. 12 we will gather together to play golf and show solidarity. Each hole will fly a Ukrainian flag sponsored by a local business or patron and afterward we will convene at Cottonwood on the Greens for dinner and drinks.
Aug. 13 we will host a beer dinner, providing Ukrainian style beers paired with food from Pajarito Brewpub and Grill. If you are unable to join us for the tournament or the beer dinner, there is an opportunity to make a monetary donation throughout the month of August. Our friend and patron, Rollin Tylerr Jones, who spent the month of March in Ukraine helping the military with trauma medical services, will make sure the proceeds directly benefit Ukrainian soldiers.
Specifically, the kits carried by soldiers are missing three very important tools:

QuikClot kits – gauze and powder that are hemostatic agents, helping stop bleeding wounds immediately;

Trauma shears – helps remove tactical gear quickly without further injuring the soldier; and
- QR code patch on all kits – will direct soldiers to YouTube videos on all wound treatment/war trauma care.
