BeWellnm News:

ALBUQUERQUE — BeWellnm, the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, announces a new Special Enrollment Period for low-income individuals and families providing them with affordable health insurance.

New Mexico residents with an estimated annual household income between 139 percent and 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) are now eligible to enroll in health insurance coverage through the new Special Enrollment Period.

“Nearly 12,000 uninsured New Mexicans could be eligible for enrollment in the new Special Enrollment Period,” said Maureen Manring, director of communication and outreach for BeWellnm. “As a state-based marketplace, BeWellnm is able to offer significant savings for low-income individuals and families. A majority of those who are eligible will qualify for free or low-cost plans with minimal deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. We hope that all New Mexicans will look into this new opportunity and get enrolled in a plan that works best for them and their families.”

The brand-new Special Enrollment Period is not based on qualifying life events such as job loss, and low-income New Mexicans have the option to enroll in coverage through BeWellnm at any time during the year if they meet eligibility requirements.

New Mexicans are encouraged to submit an online application at beWellnm.com or update an existing application to determine eligibility for the Special Enrollment Period. The application will automatically determine if the individual is eligible. If someone needs assistance, the BeWellnm team of certified enrollment counselors, agents and brokers are free.

BeWellnm offers dozens of plan options across multiple carriers, including dental insurance. All health plans cover the 10 essential benefits such as doctor visits, hospital stays, maternity care, emergency room care, prescriptions, and more. Federal law and regulations provide protections against preexisting condition exclusions in health insurance coverage. Health plans must permit New Mexicans to enroll regardless of health status, age, gender, or other factors that may predict the use of health services.

The BeWellnm customer engagement center is able to help those in need to review and explain their health insurance options through telephone assistance at 833.862.3935 or online by visiting BeWellnm.
