Trinity Site Groundbreaking Set for July 23

The community is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for the Trinity Site Project.
Smith’s Market Place president and executive team will attend the event set for 2 p.m., July 23 at the project site on Trinity Drive in Los Alamos.

PHOENIX – Even though taxes may not be on your mind, the IRS wants to help you with your 2013 federal tax planning now.
Summer is a good time for you to learn ways to reduce your taxes.
Beginning July 1, the IRS will offer its annual Summertime Tax Tip series of useful information affecting millions of taxpayers. Tax Tip subscribers receive a new Tip via email three times a week during the summer.
IRS Tax Tips are plain language messages that are easy to understand. They often include links to helpful IRS.gov references, IRS YouTube videos and podcasts.

Two Los Alamos Businesses Receive Venture Acceleration Fund Awards

The two Los Alamos businesses receiving Venture Acceleration Fund Awards are GeoEnergy Monitoring Systems, Inc. and SportXast of Los Alamos.
GeoEnergy Monitoring Systems will use the funds tocontribute to the development of a seismo-acoustic system to monitor seismic activity where hydrofracturing (fracking) and fluid injection projects are occurring. The smart-sensor technology will be offered to field operators at a fraction of the cost of current systems.

Smith’s/Kroger Officially Notifies County: Trinity Site is a go!
COUNTY News:
Today, Los Alamos County received official notification from Smith’s/Kroger that the lease feasibility period has ended and that the terms of the ground lease with the County will be in full effect.
Now, Smith’s/Kroger is set to begin the initial development phase, including construction of the anchor building (Smith’s Marketplace), at least one other tenant of approximately 10,500 square feet, all parking and other site work.

Carol A. Clark Named ‘Rotarian of the Year’

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos named Carol A. Clark as its 2012-2013 ‘Rotarian of the Year’ during an annual event Tuesday night at the Posse Lodge.
Clark is publisher of the Los Alamos Daily Post. She joined the local Rotary Club in January 2012 and serves on its Board of Directors.
