2023 New Mexico Real Estate Activity Continues Increase

For the third consecutive month in 2023 New Mexico Home sales increased. While still nearly 20 percent behind the March 2022 numbers, the numbers reflect the national trend of slowly increasing real estate activity.

“Inventory shortages and mortgage interest rates hovering around 6 percent still present a challenge to many home buyers,” said President Hubert Hill of the New Mexico Association of REALTORS (NMAR). “Median prices also are continuing their upward climb – but at a more manageable rate of 4-5 percent instead of the 20 percent+ seen in some areas in 2022.”

U.S. Department Of Treasury Awards $580,405 Funds To Be Used For Small Affordable Rental Projects In New Mexico

Ventana Fund, a New Mexico Community Development Financial Institution, was awarded $580,405 this week by the U.S. Department of Treasury to fund the rehabilitation and construction of small affordable rental projects throughout the state.

The award will be used to capitalize Ventana Fund’s new loan program, Thresholds, which provides loans for affordable rental projects under $5 million. The program also provides loans to affordable housing developers who serve New Mexico’s low-income residents and high-need communities.
