Cut Fiber Caused Internet, Cell Outage – Service Restored

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County officials announced in an update to the community the cause of the countywide Lumen internet and cellular outage on Tuesday, affecting all of Los Alamos County, including White Rock.

Lumen has reported that the exact point of failure has been identified. The damage, a cut fiber line, was caused by construction work north of Santa Fe.

Emergency locates were engaged to allow excavation, and splice crews arrived on site. Service was restored sometime overnight. Read More

When a cybersecurity company gets hacked, it feels a bit like hearing your locksmith’s house was broken into. At its annual convention Saturday at the Clyde Hotel in Albuquerque, the board and membership of the New Mexico Press Association (NMPA) elected Los Alamos Daily Post Owner/Publisher Carol A. Clark to the position of Chair of its Board of Directors.

Clark was first elected to serve on the state press board in 2022. She was elected President and also appointed to serve on the NMPA legal committee with former Board President Nick Seibel of the Silver City Daily Press and Board Member Donn Friedman of the Albuquerque Journal.

Certificates Of Occupancy Issued At The Hill Apartments

Pavilion Construction and Los Alamos County announced that The Hill Apartments at 141 36th Street has officially received certificates of occupancy. The approvals include the clubhouse and three of the development’s eight apartment buildings, resulting in 24 new apartments now available for lease.
