Citing “logistical circumstances” beyond his control, Captain Dillon M. Jordan with the U.S. Army Patriot Battalion notified Los Alamos County officials today that the military exercises and Community Day scheduled for this week in Los Alamos are canceled.

The 5th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery, had planned to conduct a series of Patriot air and missile defense system exercises Feb. 17-24 at the Los Alamos Airport and “FEMA-Ville” on North Mesa.

In addition, a Community Day was planned to engage with the public Saturday, Feb. 19.

Jordan expressed disappointment, indicating that his Battery was looking forward to experiencing Los Alamos County’s hospitality. He thanked the County for its efforts and suggested that perhaps the exercises could be executed at a later date.
