Are all insects bad for your garden? Absolutely not! In fact, some are beneficial to it. Popular presenter and certified arborist Laural Hardin is returning to the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 to talk about which insects are beneficial, and what you can do to cultivate their benefits.

Predacious beneficial insects are becoming the preferred method for treating problem insects in professional greenhouse production and in the backyard garden. Many people are unwittingly destroying beneficial insect populations with poor gardening practices. This workshop will cover the types of beneficial insects, and how they can be encouraged to thrive or be safely introduced into your environment.

Hardin is a certified arborist and integrated pest management specialist. She specializes in diagnosing and solving tree and garden problems. With an interest in helping people understand the natural balance in the landscape, Hardin teaches us how to avoid most issues by learning to see the root cause. She loves to share her knowledge with hands on workshops and fact filled talks.
