New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) has set two health requirements for public schools to be allowed to transition to hybrid instruction. The respective county must meet two gating criteria: (1) seven-day average for daily diagnoses below 8 per 100,000 people, and (2) testing positivity rate below 5 percent. As of today, nine New Mexico counties do not meet these gating criteria. Note however, that NMPED updates the list of counties approved for hybrid learning only periodically, and certainly not on a day by day basis. Source: New Mexico Department of Health.
