COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County Manager Harry Burgess announced today the following facilities will remain closed until April 30 due to the recent order issued by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham:
- Both public libraries;
- Aquatic Center;
- Fuller Lodge;
- History Museum;
- Teen Center;
- Both Youth Activity Centers;
- Nature Center;
- Golf Course Pro Shop; and
- Fuller Lodge Art Center.
All programs, classes and activities in those facilities are canceled. The two senior centers also will continue to be closed with all programs cancelled but home meal deliveries will continue.
Additionally, the closure of the two Visitor Centers in Los Alamos and White Rock, as well as the National Park’s Manhattan Project National Historical Park Visitor Center, located in the Community Building, will be extended until April 30.
Although the facilities are closed, County staff and contractors have been creatively providing alternative programming such as the Facebook page, “At Home in Los Alamos”, the opening of a “Virtual Teen Center,” and the public library’s “Books Gone Viral Bingo”.
For more information about these activities, check the Los Alamos County Community Services Department Facebook page.
The County also mailed all households a flyer titled “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” last week with additional useful resources that residents might need during the Governor’s “stay at home” order. Other COVID-19 updates are available on the County’s website: here.
