LIBRARY News:

The Library is hosting a party, Saturday at Mesa Public Library, to celebrate the end of the construction project that began last August and to thank all the patrons for their support.

There will be stories, hard hats, music and cake! Also, the Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries will host a big Bag Sale 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Lobby.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • 9:30-10a.m. Music and Movement in the downstairs rotunda
  • 10:10-10:45 a.m. Family Storytime, best for ages 2 to 5, with a construction theme and free hardhats for the kids
  • 10:45 -11:45 a.m.  Heavy construction equipment in the parking lot outside. Put on your hard hat and get your picture taken!
  • 2-4 p.m. Live Music with the Los Alamos Jazz Project and cake in the downstairs rotunda.

“We know the construction caused a lot of disruption for our patrons,” Library Manager Eileen Sullivan said. “We just want to thank everyone for their patience and continued support, and welcome you back to the library.”

During the project all of the heating and cooling equipment and ductwork was replaced, along with all of the lighting throughout the building. Project Manager Wayne Kohlrust reported that Library patrons should anticipate a much more pleasant experience in the Library now that the improvements are complete.
