County Council candidate James Wernicke

The community is invited to join Los Alamos County Council Libertarian candidate James Wernicke at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, for a free screening of 1984 at SALA Event Center.

1984 is English author George Orwell’s cautionary tale about totalitarianism, propaganda, surveillance, and the fight for individual freedom.

Wernicke will discuss Orwell’s political values, the parallels between the novel and today’s tech-driven world, and how embracing libertarian principles can help protect individualism.

The movie is rated R for nudity and violence. Light refreshments will be provided.
