Andy and Linda Light, residents of Village Place in White Rock, finally got their Valentine’s Day concert.As part of a fundraiser with Flowers by Gillian and Rose Chocolatier, the Brass Ensemble section of the Los Alamos Community Winds were able to serenade the couple Saturday, following days of snow and frigid temperatures.

Consisting of Director Ted Vives, Megan Dunlap, Rex Hjelm, Jeremy Best and John Daly, the group played three songs while standing in the middle of the Village Place community on the residential “island”.

“We were finally able to perform live,” Best said. “Because of COVID, it’s been almost a year since we’ve been able to play together. We even performed on Zoom. This Valentine’s fundraiser was just the thing to get us back together again in small groups to play. And with the cold snap last weekend, we had to delay our concert until today.”

Typically, you’ll find the Los Alamos Community Winds performing at Ashley Pond during the summer and at Overlook Park for the 4th of July. Fundraising was a way to get out and do what they enjoy most: perform beautiful music. They have plans for a concert May 22. You can find more details on their website lacw.org.
