DP Road Phase II Reconstruction Project Update

  • TLC Plumbing & Utility works  7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Parking:

  • Parking will not be allowed south of DP Road outside of designated areas south of Ace Hardware and south of the Los Alamos Fire Training Academy.

Traffic Control:

  • Potholing to identify existing utilities along the south side of DP Road continues.
  • Crews will begin milling existing asphalt on east-bound lanes beginning the week of June 17
  • Follow all work zone signs and exercise caution; flaggers may direct traffic during certain construction events.
  • Access to businesses will be maintained; westbound traffic direction remains unchanged.

Rose Street Reconstruction Project

  • TLC Plumbing & Utility is working 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday on Rose Street from Central Avenue to Peach Street, including sections of Peach Street and Spruce Street.

Work Details:

  • Installing concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter, drive pads, and drop inlets.
  • Grading the roadway has been completed.
  • Paving operations will commence the week of June 17.

Urban Trail Phase I and II Project

  • Crews will work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, with possible weekend work if needed. 
  • Construction of the Trail will continue along the north side of Canyon Road between the Tennis Courts and Los Alamos Nature Center driveway
  • The north shoulder on Canyon in this area is closed, with two lanes of traffic generally maintained. 
  • Flaggers will be used when lane closures are needed for construction vehicle access to the work areas.
  • Work to construct the boardwalk section of the trail will also continue in the wooded area by the Tennis Courts.

Overlook Park Irrigation Work

  • The trail section at Overlook Park between Spirio Soccer Field and Softball Field 3 will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians, beginning Tuesday, May 28. This closure is necessary for work on interconnecting the irrigation system with the potable water system as a backup to the reclaimed water that is typically used to water the fields. This work is expected to last into October.

Traffic & Streets Projects:

  • Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division staff manages the projects listed in this section. Please slow down and use caution within the construction work zones. Call Daniel Blea, Traffic and Streets Manager, for concerns 505.663.8112.

Crack Sealing in North Community

  • Under contract with Los Alamos County, Dismuke Construction is crack sealing in these North Community areas and will continue through June 28:
      • Woodland Road, 35th St., 36th St.
      • Alabama Avenue,  Yucca St., 48th St.
      • 47th Street, 45th St., Club Road
  • Moving flagging operations may exist. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Crack sealing begins on the intersections of Yucca and 45th and Yucca and 46th Streets
  • Crack sealing will begin this week at the intersections of Yucca and 45th and Yucca and 46th Streets now that the crews are finishing up asphalt patching. A flagging operation will be in place at the work zones as needed. Work will continue until completed. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
  • Island Tip Painting Continues on State Rd 4 and on Diamond Drive
  • Crews will paint the tips of islands along N.M. 4 in White Rock and on Diamond Drive in Los Alamos. Crews will begin daily at 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and continue until completion.

Concrete Work Continues on Manhattan Loop, Rim Road, and Myrtle Street

  • Crews will be replacing the sidewalk, curb, and gutter at 400 Manhattan Loop, 531 Rim Road, and across the street from 1010 Myrtle. The sidewalks will be closed to pedestrians while repairs are being made. Work will continue until completed. Work hours will be 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Non-County Projects:

  • The following construction projects are not funded by Los Alamos County. Updates are included to keep residents informed of potential traffic impacts. Questions should be directed to the parties identified within each description. Please obey all traffic devices and slowdown in work zones.  

Road Closure at 1247 San Ildefonso Road June 19

  • Trenchlinx, LLC will close the road at 1247 San Ildefonso to run a cable underground. They will detour traffic at Stoneview Drive and Big Rock Loop. Crews will assist sidewalk traffic through the work zone as needed. This project will begin and end on June 19.
