Dear Community,
Last spring, in 2024, when we announced the possibility of shutting our doors, the response was powerful. Sales increased. Member energy surged. That collective support gave us the momentum to keep going through the summer and early fall.
In response to your feedback last year, we made a number of improvements aimed at increasing accessibility, community connection, and revenue.
These improvements include:
- Opening the store earlier in the morning to better serve commuters and early shoppers;
- Expanding our catering program, which has brought in new income and introduced us to new customers;
- Joining the Double Up Food Bucks program, which gives EBT users a 50% discount on New Mexico grown produce;
- Participating in the Friday night concert series, where our booth now regularly brings in $500–$1,500 per event;
- And refocusing on our deli, which has shown strong growth, with some days topping $2,500 in sales.
We’ve made these changes because we listened to you—and because we believe this store is worth fighting for.
We are continuing to strive for ways that best serve our community in the following ways by
- Offering a 10% discount to customers who purchase an entire case of product,
- Bringing in products as requested by customers when possible
- Providing employment opportunities above the cost of living with health benefits, paid time off, and a generous staff discount,
- Keeping check-out lines short and fast for your convenience.
We’re still here because people believe in the idea that a grocery store can be owned by the people it serves. That it can prioritize local farmers and food makers, economic transparency, and resilience over profit. We still believe that’s worth fighting for.
Shop with us. Tell your friends to check us out. Spend a little more if you can. Join the board. Tell your friends. Together, we decide what happens next.
In cooperation,
Thomas Salazar
