MUSIC News:
Coro de Cámara’s energetic concert, “New York Nuance,” features music by notable New York composers Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, and Thomas “Fats” Waller. Excerpts from West Side Story are the centerpiece of the program, along with other well-known works, such as “Make Our Garden Grow” from Bernstein’s Candide, “The Promise of Living” from Copland’s The Tender Land, “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)” by Ellington, and several selections from Ain’t Misbehavin’ by Waller.
Back by popular demand, guest trio—Joe Cox, piano; Howard Coe, upright electric bass; and John Frary, drums—will “jazz it up” for your listening pleasure.
Performances are 7 p.m. Friday, March 11 at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Drive in Los Alamos, and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at First Presbyterian Church, 208 Grant Avenue in Santa Fe.
The joint will definitely be jumpin’. Donations gratefully accepted at the door.
