COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County administrative offices will be closed Monday, June 20, in observance of Juneteenth.
Last February, the County Council adopted a change to the County’s personnel rules to add Juneteenth and Indigenous People’s Day as observed County holidays to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
This Monday, Los Alamos County will join other federal, state and local governments and organizations to commemorate June 19, 1865 or Juneteenth, the day when enslaved people in Texas learned of Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.
While the County’s administrative offices, Environmental Division and Atomic City Transit services are closed Monday, the following facilities will be open during holiday hours:
- White Rock and Mesa libraries will be closed Sunday, June 19, but open 1-5 p.m. Monday;
- Walkup Aquatic Center 1-4 p.m. Monday; and
- Golf Course the back 9 are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday; however the front 9 are closed.
