County APPB Call For Art For Golf Cart Staging Wall

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Art in Public Places Board (APPB) is looking for an artist to create a fun and enjoyable art creation to transform the more than 500 square-foot concrete wall at the entrance of the Los Alamos Golf Course in the Golf Cart Staging Area.

The goal of the project is to beautify the space, foster community engagement and celebrate creativity in public spaces in the community.

Interested artists can submit an Entry Packet with the artist’s resume, the proposed piece, a color photograph or rendering of the proposed piece, prior works by the artist, a description of the technical requirements and timeframe for the project, and the proposed price range. A separate packet must be submitted for each proposed piece or recommendation.

The APPB will evaluate entries based on the quality of the workmanship, reputation/recognition of the artist or artists, appropriateness of the art for the proposed location, maintenance requirements for the piece, price and additional costs of the piece, and security factors such as theft, vandalism and public safety.

Entry packets must be submitted by May 17, 2024, with the selection process expected to take no more than six to eight months.

Submissions may be mailed to Chelsea Ashcraft, APPB Staff Liaison for Los Alamos County, 1000 Central Ave. Ste 310, Los Alamos, NM 87544, or emailed to chelsea.ashcraft@lacnm.us.

For questions or to find more information, Chelsea Ashcraft can be reached at the aforementioned email or by calling 505.662.8241.
