Time Extended for Public Comment on Transportation to Bandelier

BANDELIER News:

 

The National Park Service (NPS) at Bandelier National Monument is developing a Transportation Plan/ Environmental Assessment (plan/EA) to improve transportation conditions in Bandelier National Monument.

 

The public comment period has been extended, and will now close Tuesday, Nov. 6,

 

The NPS is in the scoping phase of the project and needs and encourages public input during this initial comment period.

 

These comments are crucial to defining the issues and concerns to be addressed.

Construction of the Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving and Utility Project Phase 1 continues.

For the week of October 22, expect concrete work to continue on Myrtle Street as well as on 5th Street.

RMCI, the contractor, has to install multiple concrete valley gutters across 15th Street at Myrtle Street, across 11th Street at 15th Street and on 9th Street at Canyon Road.

When the contractor places the valley gutters, detours will be established until the concrete has cured.

Underground Power Failure Affects Portions of North Mesa

DPU News:

An underground power failure affected parts of North Mesa at approximately 1:45 p.m. Thursday. 

The underground line failed beneath the bus stop area at Hawks Landing and San Ildefonso.

Specifically, a single phase of three phase power was lost to homes on San Ildefonso and Alamo Roads, officials at the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) reported. 

DPU’s electric line crews initiated temporary repairs by 4:30 p.m. by back feeding electricity to restore power to the Alamo neighborhood.

New Date Set for Covered Arena Groundbreaking

COUNTY News:

A community groundbreaking event for construction of the new Multi-Purpose Covered Arena at the North Mesa stables has been rescheduled for 3:30 p.m., Oct. 29 at Brewer Arena.

The event was originally set for last Friday afternoon but had to be canceled due to the massive hailstorm that hammered the area.

Building a covered arena for riding and exercising animals during inclement weather was approved by County Council at the budget hearings in May 2010.

I understand the Los Alamos Government Review Initiative’s (LACRI) are in opposition of the proposed amendments the Charter Review Committee (CRS) has recommended to the initiative and referendum provisions of the Charter; under the premise that the proposed signature requirements of 15 percent and timeframes of 60/90 days for referendums/initiatives are onerous.

EMERGENCY CENTURY LINK WORK ON TRINITY AND DIAMOND DRIVE

The eastbound curb lane of Trinity Drive in the vicinity of the Mountain Village apartments – east of 35th Street – is closed to allow Century Link to perform emergency line repairs.
