Daily Postcard: Acorn Woodpecker At Nature Center

Daily Postcard: Impersonating Kilroy, this Acorn Woodpecker is spotted Wednesday peering into the window at Los Alamos Nature Center. Acorn Woodpeckers are common in Los Alamos and the Jemez, but are few and far between in the Sangre de Christos just across the Rio. These raucous colorful characters make frequent visits to feeders around town. Spring is in the air, and the number and variety of bird species in Los Alamos is increasing. See and learn about these birds at the regular informal birding group for all ages 10 a.m. Wednesdays in the Observation Lounge at PEEC Nature Center.
