Daily Postcard: A Hermit Thrush perches on the branch of a Colorado spruce tree recently in the yard of a residence on Barranca Mesa. An unassuming bird with a melancholy song, the Hermit Thrush lurks in the understories of northern forests in summer and is a frequent winter companion across much of the country.
