Los Alamos County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Divisions have partnered up with the Pajarito Astronomers for the Dark Night program.

Anyone with an interest in stargazing and the chance to look through a telescope is invited to come out to Dara Jones Soccer Field, tonight, July 26, at Overlook Park in White Rock.

The County will have the lights out for the community and Dara Jones Soccer Field will be available for astronomy use until 11:45 p.m. Volunteers from the Pajarito Astronomers Club will begin observing one hour after sunset and will stay until as late as 11:30 p.m., if there is continued interest. Attendees are invited to bring their own telescope, we will set up at sunset.

This event is free and open to the public and will be held, weather permitting. Cancellations will be posted on the Pajarito Astronomers Facebook page.

Red flashlights are recommended for safety and will protect our night vision. Temperatures can drop quickly at night, so dress warmly and check the weather before heading over.

We hope to see you there!
