The Los Alamos Public Library System will be hosting two workshops in December to help the community face the busy season and year-end festivities with calm and focus.
Gwen Kalavaza will lead a workshop on “Being Present” 6:30-7:30 p.m., Dec. 7 at the White Rock Branch Library. Kristine Coblentz will host an evening of “Less Stress, More Ease” ” 6:30-7:30 p.m., Dec. 14 at Mesa Public Library.
Kalavaza’s workshop, “Being Present”, will explore ways to find peace amongst the chaos and to appreciate the season. Through visualization and energy awareness, participants will become more centered and ease into the present moment. Kalavaza is the library manager and also a graduate of the Center of Inner Truth in Santa Fe. She is a certified intuitive instructor of energy work and has taught classes in meditation and energy work. The community is invited to join Kalavaza at the White Rock Branch Library during the first week of December to help refocus before the holidays arrive.
Coblentz will guide participants through her interactive workshop to navigate the holiday season with less stress and more ease. This workshop uses mindfulness meditation, gentle movement exercises, and self-compassion practices to work to lower stress and expectations around the holidays and the new year.
Coblentz is a certified yoga teacher and mindfulness meditation instructor. She is a leader of mental health programs in the region.
All are welcome to participate including beginners to those interested in a tune up for their regular practice. Dress comfortably and come as you are. No need for special equipment.
Participants are asked to register in advance to reserve their placements in these free workshops.
