SANTA FE/ALBUQUERQUE – Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU) this week earned distinction for its workplace policies by Family Friendly New Mexico, a statewide initiative developed to recognize employers that have adopted policies that give New Mexico businesses an advantage in recruiting and retaining the best employees. DNCU also earned an additional designation for 2025, the Education Support designation, for its efforts to support employee educational pursuits.
“Del Norte Credit Union strives to live its Mission of Improving Lives, not only for our members, but for our hardworking, dedicated team members as well. We embody our Mission through the various programs and benefits we offer our workforce to help them thrive both personally and professionally,” said Lori Schutt, SVP Human Resources at Del Norte Credit Union.
The Family Friendly New Mexico initiative offers training, support and resources to businesses on how to implement more family friendly policies; provides recognition to companies that offer their employees family friendly benefits; and acts as a resource and clearinghouse of information for businesses and community leaders as they develop policies on issues such as paid family leave and childcare assistance.
“As we grow the state’s economy, we have the opportunity to be a national leader in offering New Mexicans workplaces that help companies attract and keep the best workers,” said Giovanna Rossi, founder and Director of Family Friendly New Mexico. “Implementing family-friendly policies can be a simple, concrete investment a company can make to ensure it can compete for highly qualified employees. Studies have shown that costs associated with creating family friendly benefits are more than made up for in improved productivity, employee morale and employee retention. We are happy to recognize Del Norte Credit Union as a committed leader in implementing family friendly policies.”
DNCU creates programs to support the education, growth and wellness needs of its workforce. They provide a robust tuition reimbursement program, various in-house management development programs and self-development training programs, paid leave for employees to volunteer and give back to their communities, and offer top-notch medical, dental and vision benefits, of which DNCU pays 85% of the premiums. DNCU also assesses its ability to offer a hybrid work environment when it is feasible. Additionally, its Values in Action platform, launched recently for employee recognition, has seen high employee engagement.
