The Democratic Party of Los Alamos County (DPLA) honored longtime resident and party member Amy Storey, third from right, on May 18 at the 10th annual JFK Dinner at Pig+Fig Cafe. Among those gathered for the celebration from left, Michael Redondo, Ryn Herrmann, Laura Crucet, Storey, Beverly Neal Clinton and Denise Derkacs. Storey was instrumental, and, in fact, was one of the leaders of a small group of Democrats who worked to revitalize the county party in 2010. The award dinner memorializes John F. Kennedy, the first sitting President to visit Los Alamos, and is held near his May birthday. The tradition began in 2012 and has continued yearly since 2012 (except for COVID years). Each year the prior award recipients choose the next recipient based on contributions to the local Party. Prior award recipients are Bun Ryan, Nancy Bartlit, Kyle and Mike Wheeler, Former Sen. Jeff Bingaman, Karyl Ann Armbruster, Christine and George Chandler, Amy and Ed Birnbaum, Robyn Schultz and Eric Vasquez. Courtesy/DPLA
