It was a blue wave – at least in Los Alamos – for the 2022 General Election. The Democrats won in every open elected seat.
Jason Wardlow Herrera won the race for Los Alamos County Sheriff with 5,903 votes. His opponent, Libertarian Chris Luchini, received 3,378 votes.
“Thank you to all the voters and Sheriff Joe Granville for his support, the Democratic Party and Chair Cat Ozment and I’m super excited for this new position,” Wardlow Herrera said.
Probate Judge Michael Redondo ran unopposed and received 6,921 votes.
“Thank you to all the staff at the County Clerk’s office and all the poll workers who made sure we had a well-run election,” Redondo said.
Municipal Judge Elizabeth Allen also ran unopposed. She was re-elected with 6,794 votes.
“It is a pleasure to serve Los Alamos as their municipal judge and I look forward to the next four years,’ Allen said.
Catherine Taylor is the new magistrate judge. She received 5,855 votes. Her opponent, Republican Tim Bullock, received 3,905 votes.
“I cannot overstate how grateful I am for all the support and encouragement I received during my candidacy,” Taylor said. “From displaying yard signs to writing letters to casting a ballot — each and every person who advocated on my behalf has allowed me to continue to serve Los Alamos County and more fully utilize my legal experience. Thank you, Los Alamos, for entrusting me with our Magistrate Court.”
Also, George Chandler was elected Los Alamos County Assessor. He received 5,706 votes while his opponent Libertarian Laura Burrows received 3,596 votes.
