Digital Photography For Beginners At LATC July 31-Aug. 3

The Los Alamos Family YMCA Teen Center (LATC) and Los Alamos Photography Club are hosting a “Digital Photography for Beginners” class with photographer Martin Cooper, 1-4 p.m. July 31-Aug. 3, for teens age 13-19.

This free 4-day class will teach students the ins and outs of using a digital camera to take and develop high quality photos. They’ll learn how to use the hardware and software of modern digital cameras as well as what subject and composition makes a good photo.

Each day will consist of a lecture and discussion of that day’s topic followed by practical hands-on experience with equipment to reinforce each focus area. Participants will then get the opportunity to work on and edit their own photos using digital development tools in the computer lab. This class will teach students everything they’ll need to start the hobby of photography.

Cameras will be provided for the class but bringing one’s own equipment to use is welcome.

This class is free to all participants, being a Teen Center member is the only requirement.

Teens not already a member of the Teen Center will be gven a membership packet to be filled out and returned as soon as possible.
