Los Luceros News:

The morning sunrise is a beautiful time to enjoy Los Luceros Historic Site and see various birds, including wintering sandhill cranes, as well as enjoy the historic buildings and farm.

Los Luceros offers extended hours from sunrise to sunset on the first Sunday of each month. This is a great time of year for visitors to see wintering birds including sandhill cranes, bald eagles, magpies, red-tailed hawks, mourning doves, ravens, crows, juncos and various species of finches.

Guests can explore the visitor center, capilla (chapel), Victorian cottage, guesthouse and farmyard.

Trails meander around the landscape and to the Rio Grande.

The site will offer a paper crane puppet-making activity for all ages to enjoy. Join Ranger Kara at 10 a.m. for a story time in the community room.

She will read “Snowmen at Night” by Caralyn Buehner and share with kids what those silly snowy folk are getting up to while we’re all asleep. All ages are welcome. Children must have a guardian present.
