County Invites Community To Be Skywarn Storm Spotters

COUNTY News:

Hosted by the Los Alamos County’s Emergency Management Office, the first quarterly meeting of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) of Los Alamos will include critical Skywarn storm spotter training. Representatives from the National Weather Service (NWS) will administer this free training session starting at 2 p.m. May 23, 2024 at Fuller Lodge.

The public is invited to attend; no registration is required.

NMDVR Offers ‘Money Smart’ Training For Small Business

NMDVR News:

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (NMDVR) is offering an online Money Smart for Small Business course beginning Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The 14 free sessions will be held Wednesdays 2:30-4:30 p.m. Mountain Time.

The NMDVR benefits advisement team is presenting the course, which was developed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Los Alamos, New Mexico — Members of the LAC Academy spring class were honored on their graduation day, April 25, 2024 at Fuller Lodge.

The Academy is a nine-week cohort style leadership development program for identified high potential leaders in Los Alamos County. The current class of graduates includes 19 County employees from 14  divisions serving the community.

County: ‘Bike To School’ Event In White Rock Wednesday

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Public Works Department in collaboration with Piñon Elementary School wants to notify the community that Piñon Elementary School in White Rock will be having a “Bike to School” event at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 8.

As young bicyclists are riding their bikes to school, using the roadway and sidewalks, motorists are asked to be more cautious in the Piñon Elementary school zone and also remember the County’s “5 Foot to Pass” ordinance pertaining to bikes.
