Los Alamos Municipal Court Judge Elizabeth Allen and her staff invite the public to an open house to celebrate Law Day, a national day set aside to honor the rule of law.

The Los Alamos Music Teachers Association (LAMTA) invites the community to attend its second Musicale concert of the year at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Fuller Lodge.

Los Alamos County Environmental Services Closed Wednesday April 24 For Employee Training
Los Alamos County Environmental Services will be closed Wednesday, April 24 for employee development, safety training and certification compliance.
This includes operations at the Eco Station and the Overlook Convenience Center. Residential service will not be impacted; however, commercial trash and recycling collection service will also be suspended Wednesday, April 24.

The National Park Service (NPS) has announced a new Junior Ranger experiential program at Valles Caldera National Preserve.
The program begins by conferring the honor of Junior Ranger onto each participant and then invites them to explore the park and learn more about the rich geologic, cultural and natural stories found there.

Higher Education Department Awards $1 Million In Food Security Grants To New Mexico Colleges And Universities

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Higher Education Department announced Thursday that it has awarded a total of $1 million to eight New Mexico colleges and universities to fund innovative projects that address food insecurity among students, faculty and staff.

The Northern Río Grande National Heritage Area (NRGNHA) is offering a hands-on plant and local herb identification and remedy workshop 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at Los Luceros Historic Site, 253 County Road 41 in Alcalde. Find directions online.

Three Los Alamos Odyssey of the Mind (OMer) teams recently competed in the Colorado state tournament, with all three earning first place honors in their divisions.

LAPS Buses Pass Inspection With Flying Colors

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) have announced that the LAPS Transportation Department had its fleet of buses pass a recent bus inspection by a State Safety Inspector with flying colors.
“All buses passed the inspection with only a few minor repairs, mostly light bulbs, needed on buses to keep 100% in service,” LAPS Director of Transportation Keith Rosenbaum said.
Keeping the fleet of buses operating safely is a team effort, according to Rosenbaum.
