LAPS Cancels All Classes Today Due To Weather Concerns

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) will be closing for the day as more snow is predicted throughout the day. All classes are canceled.

When school is dismissed early or cancelled for the day, all after school programs including athletics (both home and away contests) and activities are canceled.

Los Alamos Public Schools On 2-Hour Delay Today

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools will be on a 2 hour delay today, Jan. 17, due to snow. This delay will give our crews time to make sure parking lots and sidewalks are clear. 

There will be NO morning 3Y classes.

Buses will arrive at their usual stops 2 hours late. School will begin 2 hours late. Please be safe in your travels and watch for possible ice on roadways and sidewalks.

New Mexico More Than Doubles Number Of Teachers Receiving Debt Relief

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) announced that it has more than doubled the number of teachers receiving loan forgiveness through the state’s Teacher Loan Repayment Program, thanks to additional funding approved by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in 2022.  

The agency awarded funding to 966 new applicants and renewed funding for 445 applicants, marking the largest number of teachers to ever benefit from the Teacher Loan Repayment Program in a single year.

SFCC And SFHEC Close To Honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College and the Santa Fe Higher Education Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

No classes or activities will be held and no other student services will be available.

Both campuses will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 17, which is the first day of classes for the spring semester at SFCC.
