Living Well Los Alamos: The 4 H’s―Head, Heart, Hands And Health

The green four-leaf clover with the white H’s may conjure images of raising rabbits or baking a cake.
 
But 4-H is this and so much more. Youth from large cities to rural areas can and do participate in 4-H. For instance, youth in Los Alamos participate in archery, .22 pistol and shotgun projects as well as competing in the District competition in Raton. New Mexico State University 4H offers a variety of programs including Robotics, Karate, Vegetable Gardening, Fashion Design, even a Clowning project, to name just a few.

AAUW Holds Voter Registration At UNM-LA In Honor Of National Voter Registration Day Tuesday

AAUW News:

AAUW Los Alamos will hold a voter registration event at UNM-Los Alamos Tuesday in honor of National Voter Registration Day.

Voter registration for US citizens residing in New Mexico is 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of Building 6 on the UNM-LA campus. Those registering need to be 18 years of age or older on or before Election Day, Nov. 8. 

A social security number is necessary to complete the registration. Changes of name and address for those already registered also will be handled.

Youth Risk & Resiliency Survey Shows Good News For Los Alamos And Areas For Continued Work

The YRRS results for grades 9-12 have been released. Middle school data from the New Mexico Department of Health is expected next week. The report shows good news for Los Alamos and specific areas for continued work.
