Threatening Graffiti At Los Alamos High School
Courtesy imageLast week, anonymous threats were confronted at Los Alamos High School following the discovery in a boy’s bathroom stall of graffiti announcing the intent of “shooting up the school”.
Teachers and students were ordered to take serious safety precautions starting Wednesday, March 2. Third period class was interrupted by an alarming announcement over the intercom, with Principal Brad Parker informing students and staff about the serious situation.

Kids age 5 through high school with diagnosed developmental or physical special needs will meet 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 12 at the YMCA to practice climbing skills and socialize with peers.
Special Saturdays meets various times on Saturdays throughout the year and provides fun activities for the kids and a break for parents. The cost of each event is $10 and financial aid is always available.

LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department continues to work in partnership with Los Alamos Public Schools to investigate recent graffiti threats.
In cooperation with LAPS and members of the community, LAPD has identified at least one suspect we believe to be responsible. Police have increased their presence at school campuses within the County and continue to assign School Resource Officers to Los Alamos High School and Los Alamos Middle School.

What do we know?
- Staff have discovered two different graffiti-type writings in bathrooms at the high school. The words are hard to read and make reference to “shooting up the school.”
- Information of this nature, whether credible or not, has to be taken seriously. To the best of our knowledge, students and staff are not in imminent danger.

Gov. Signs Bill To Teach Students Emergency Training
STATE News:
SANTA FE — Gov. Susana Martinez has signed legislation that adds emergency lifesaving training into the curriculum for New Mexico students.
Senate Bill 1, sponsored by Sen. Michael Sanchez, D-Belen, and House Bill 104, sponsored by Rep. Terry McMillan, R-Las Cruces, makes it so that New Mexico students – first through 12th grade – learn emergency lifesaving training.
