Route 10, Bus 123 will begin serving that community starting Wednesday, Jan. 27.

LAS VEGAS – The American Federation of Teachers New Mexico released the following statements in response to the recent successful representational election at Highlands University:

LAPS Seeks Community Input For Barranca Elementary School Construction Project

The community is invited to a meeting at Barranca Mesa Elementary School Library 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4.
The district is asking for community input about Educational Specifications for Barranca school. This is the first community meeting about how to design a modern facility that meets the school’s teaching and learning program.
The next public meeting will be at the Feb. 24 School Board meeting when the steering committee will present update number one to Board members. Read More

Los Alamos High School sophomore Jenny Paige took 2nd place overall individual out of 43 in the Consumer Decision Making Contest at Western National 4-H Roundup, Jan. 7-10 in Denver, Colo.
She also competed on the Santa Fe County 4-H team, which placed fifth of 11 in the team Consumer Decision Making Contest. Contestants must win their state competitions prior to advancing to Nationals.

Over the last several months, these students have been practicing and preparing for this big event, attending word clubs and participating in their individual school bees.

Youth enjoying a snowshoe hike on a beautiful winter day. Courtesy/PEECPajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is offering a beginning snowshoe hike from Pajarito ski hill parking lot to Cañada Bonita 9-11 a.m. Saturday.
PEEC’s educator Siobhan Niklasson will lead participants along a showshoe trail maintained by the Southwest Nordic Ski Club and point out ecological features of the winter forest. This family-friendly hike will cover 3 miles and about 300 feet of elevation change.
