The program, now in its 25th year, provides exciting, hands-on, activity-based learning sessions focusing on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM.)

The staff and faculty of the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA), invite the community to attend a Town Hall meeting 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the White Rock Baptist Church sanctuary, 80 N.M. 4 in White Rock.
The Town Hall meeting will give the community an opportunity to learn more about the upcoming special election being put before the voters Sept. 17.

SANTA FE – New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) state charter school launches its fourth year Aug. 12 with the largest student body to date: 212 students representing 37 communities throughout New Mexico.

HSCI, Cambridge, MA – Meghan Montoya, a Los Alamos, New Mexico resident, and a junior at the College of William and Mary, is one of 44 undergraduate students accepted into the 2013 Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) Internship Program, which provides participants with a challenging summer research experience in a cutting-edge stem cell science laboratory.
She was connected to the HSCI through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Exceptional Research Opportunities Program.

Los Alamos County Council to Vote on Resolution Supporting Mil Levy Campaign

The Los Alamos County Council is scheduled to vote on a resolution during today’s Council meeting supporting the upcoming mil levy election being put before Los Alamos
County voters Sept. 17.
The money generated by the 2-mil increase will be used to fund programs at The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA). If passed, this would mean the first operational increase since the branch campus was formed in 1980.

The Los Alamos Kiwanis Club presented Erin Kirk with a scholarship recently. Erin will be attending the University of New Mexico and will study communication or education.
