One day apart, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ended his presidential campaign, and Jeff Apodaca defended The New Mexico Project in court.

The scions of two political families are very different personally, but both have struggled to carve out their place in public life. Both stepped outside the inherited cocoon of the Democratic Party and attempted to cut a path through the political jungle on their own.

County Launches eComment Tool For Council Meetings

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has announced the launch of a new eComment tool designed to enhance public engagement for County Council meetings. The eComment function allows individuals to submit online public comments for upcoming Council meetings once the agenda is published, typically the Friday before the meeting.

Online comments may be submitted until noon on the day of the Council meeting, and copies will be provided to each councilor before the start of the meeting. This tool enables residents to participate from anywhere.

Delayed SUN Bucks Nutritional Stipend Payments To New Mexico Resource/Foster Parents Coming By Aug. 31

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department (CYFD) is working with the Public Education Department (PED) and the Health Care Authority (HCA) to ensure that Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (S-EBT) payments are issued to those few resource/foster parents who were inadvertently excluded from the initial disbursement.

Payments of $120 per eligible child will be processed by the end of August.

The Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office is looking forward to choosing winners for the 2024 General Election Sticker Design Contest and would like to remind students to submit their designs no later than September 2, 2024.

The contest is open to all students in grades pre-K through 12. Each design must include ONE of the following phrases: “I Voted”, “I Voted Early” or “Future Voter”.

NNSA Clears Way For Waterline Replacement At Bandelier

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) completed the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process necessary for replacement of a waterline on DOE Property at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The National Park Service (NPS) is proposing to replace their existing water line to the Ponderosa Campground within Bandelier National Monument, with a portion of the project crossing New Mexico Road (NM) 4 and extending into Technical Area 16 (TA-16) on NNSA property.
