New Mexico Governor Rescinds Four Offensive 1800s-era Proclamations … Issues Statement In Celebration Of Indigenous Peoples’ Day

SANTA FE – On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced she has signed an executive order rescinding four 1800s-era proclamations from former territorial governors.
“We can never rewrite history or undo the injustices of the past,” Gov. Lujan Grisham said. “But we can work together to heal old wounds and build stronger bonds between us. To that end, today I am rescinding four egregious official proclamations of my predecessors.”
Today, the following proclamations are hereby rescinded:
- March 12, 1851, proclamation of Gov. James S. Calhoun;

The Los Alamos County Council and Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) will hold a joint session at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 virtually on Zoom.

City Of Española Takes Back Trash Collection Services
ESPAÑOLA — As many Española residents and business owners are aware North Central Solid Waste Authority (NCSWA) is struggling to collect refuse from accounts in Española and Rio Arriba County.
In an attempt to protect the general public during this time, the City of Española has had city employees assisting NCSWA with the residential refuse collection inside of the city limits. City staff is collecting trash for more than 50 percent of the residential customers of Española.
Since Sept. 5 the City of Española has attempted to work with NCSWA to find a solution to the problem. Read More

New Mexico Land Office Brings In Record-Shattering $2.4B

SANTA FE — The New Mexico State Land Office (NMSLO) brought in a record-shattering $2.4 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2022, Commissioner of Public Lands Stephanie Garcia Richard announced Wednesday.
Prior to 2019, the State Land Office had never raised $1 billion for a fiscal year. But under Commissioner Garcia Richard’s leadership, the agency raised $1.11B, $1.05B and $1.25B in fiscal years 2019, 2020 and 2021, respectively.
