The race is 7 a.m., Sept. 15 at Pajarito Mountain Ski Area.

The Pajarito Mountain Ski Area is on the north face of Pajarito Mountain in the Jemez Mountains in North Central New Mexico, west of Los Alamos. It is on 850 acres of privately owned land with a base elevation of 9,000 feet and top elevation of 10,440 feet.

According to a statement from his office, McCain had suffered from a malignant brain tumor for which he had been treated periodically with radiation and chemotherapy since its discovery in 2017. Following the diagnosis, he took a reduced role in the United States Senate.
