SFNF News:

SANTA FE — Sept. 9, 2025, Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) Supervisor Shaun Sanchez, joined by forest, district and interdisciplinary team members, signed the Encino Vista Landscape Restoration Project (EVLRP) Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Decision Notice. Project implementation is expected to begin this fall.

The Encino Vista Land Landscape Restoration Project (EVLRP) encompasses approximately 121,648 acres located in northern New Mexico, within the Cuba and Coyote Ranger Districts of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF). Over ten years, the project aims to reduce wildfire risk and protect local communities through active management with commercial timber sales, mechanical vegetation thinning, and prescribed fire. The landscape is a priority for the Santa Fe National Forest, New Mexico State Forestry, Chama District and the Rio Chama Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP).
