NMED News:
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) Utility Operator Certification Program (UOCP) is implementing a new web-based application called Certemy, which will be available for use June 4, 2024.
Certemy is a web-based tool specifically designed for managing certifications with a robust interface for both external certification holders and program staff. The new tool will play an important role in the application and certification process for new and existing utility operators.
The certification process is critical in the development of knowledgeable and conscientious water and wastewater operators, that are vital in the delivery of clean potable drinking water and the safe discharge of treated wastewater to the environment.
This user-friendly tool allows individual users to track and manage training credits, certification status, and exam applications in real time. Benefits of this platform include automated email notifications to operators when it’s time to renew certifications and unlimited access to certification information.
The Certemy platform allows individuals to complete exam applications, manage renewal certifications, and upload and manage their training credit documents. Additionally, users can pay exam or renewal fees online and receive confirmation of receipt. Existing and prospective utility operators will receive email reminders to complete actions, and alerts when exam and renewal applications have been reviewed and approved. Users may access the platform via computer or mobile phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This project funded by the Legislature through the General Appropriate Act of 2022 to procure services that update and automate services to expand support to utility operators in a phased approach. The first phase implemented computer-based examinations for utility operators, which expanded the number of testing opportunities and locations. The second phase was to replace the failing database.
The current Certman database was shut down May 20 to begin transitioning to the Certemy Database. Certemy will be available for use June 4, 2024.
